Introduction To Information Techonogy(IT)

by Tarun on April 17, 2011

Information Technology (IT) is the acquisition, processing, storage and dissemination of vocal, pictorial, textual and numerical information by a microelectronics-based combination of computing and telecommunications. It is the technique, how the information can be transfer from one end to another. In other words anything that renders data, information or perceived knowledge in any visual format whatsoever, via any multimedia distribution mechanism, is considered part of the domain space known as Information Technology(IT).

Here I am going to introduce about some techniques, which are used to transfer the information daily life and are very common. This is a simple introduction to them.

  • Wi-Fi (Wireless Network)
  • VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol)
  • IPTV (Internet Protocol Television)
  • Touchscreen Technology

Wi-Fi

A Wi-Fi enabled device such as a Laptop, Video Game Console, Smartphone, Personal Computer (Using Wi-Fi Lan Card) or digital audio player  can connect to the Internet when within range of a wireless network connected to the Internet. Wi-Fi select some area to provide network range(range depends on the Wi-Fi hardware) to access the internet. In order to use wireless network hardware device used, Wireless Access Point (WAP), Wireless adapters, USB Wireless routers to attach one or more devices with network with the help of on-board slots such as PCI, mini PCI, USB, ExpressCard, Cardbus and PC Card.

VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol)

Voice over Internet Protocol (Voice over IP, VoIP) is one of a family of internet technologies, communication protocols, and transmission technologies for delivery of voice communications and multimedia sessions over Internet Protocol (IP) networks, such as the Internet. This technology is just like our telephone network to deliver voice any time any where. VoIP systems  controls and set-up and tear-down the audio codecs which encode speech and allow user to transmission over an IP network as digital audio using audio devices. This technique is used by Skype, Yahoo!, GMail and some other social network sites.

IPTV(Internet Protocol Television)

IPTV stands for internet television over internet protocol. IPTV is defined as multimedia services such as television/video/audio/text/graphics/data delivered over IP-based networks managed to provide the required level of quality of service and experience, security, interactivity and reliability.IPTV covers both live TV (multicasting) as well as stored video (Video-on-Demand, or VoD). The playback of IPTV requires either a personal computer or a set-top-box connected to a TV. IPTV is widely deployed for distribution of live TV like to broadcasting of a LIVE Cricket match on a website. IPTV uses a two-way digital broadcast signal sent through a switched telephone or cable network by way of a broadband connection and a set-top-box programmed with software. With this technique we are able to watch LIVE TV over 3G connections on mobile phones.

Touchscreen Technology

Touchscreen is an electronic visual display that can detect the presence and location of a touch within the display area. The term generally refers to touching the display of the device with a finger or hand. It is one of most developing and also using on a wide range technology which makes easy to the design and use of digital appliances such as the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) such as iPad, Satellite Navigation Devices, Mobile Phones (used as more sufficiently by Apple, Samsung, HTC and NOKIA ), and Video Games and now also in Computers (HP DreamScreens and more).
